Sunglasses brand Maui Jim has announced that it plans to release Kekoa, a new, limited edition sunglass that will be available exclusively at Sunglass Hut in the US and select retailers worldwide when The Amazing Spider-Man movie debuts in July.
Emulating Spider-Man’s webbed eyewear, Kekoa features a lightweight Red Web Grilamid frame and lenses with webbed mirroring. The lenses are lightweight polycarbonate in HCL Bronze. Webbing on the lenses is seen by someone looking at the glasses, but not seen by the person wearing them. The lenses feature Maui Jim’s proprietary “PolarizedPlus2” lens technology that blocks 100 percent of UV rays and 99.9 percent of glare, and enhances colors.
A limited number of 7,200 sunglasses will be produced, each individually numbered. The glasses come with a custom-branded case, storage pouch and packaging, and are priced at US$219 (US MSRP). The eye size is 68 mm (2.6 in.), bridge size is 13 mm (0.5 in.) and temple length is 127 mm (5 in.).
Maui Jim was voted favorite sunglasses company and best sunglasses for women by optical retailers and the readers of Vision Monday, 20/20 Magazine and Eye Care Products magazine in 2011. For more information visit MauiJim.com or follow the company on Facebook and Twitter at @OfficialMauiJim.
